traditional pointer instrument
This kind of instrument is an ancient and direct display form. The speed signal is obtained through the speed sensor on the hub and crankshaft, and it is converted into a pointer signal on the instrument panel in the form of resistance.
The traditional pointer instrument can only display basic signals such as speed, speed, mileage, etc. At most, it can add a display of remaining oil through the floating sliding rheostat in the fuel tank.

Liquid crystal display is a passive display, it can not emit light, can only use the light of the surrounding environment. But it requires very little energy to display patterns or characters. Because of low power consumption and miniaturization, LCD has become a better display mode.
Because the liquid crystal display can show more data information by changing the way of applying voltage, it is also a big player in the field of instruments. In addition to the regular speed and speed, the current time, water temperature, light and other information are also included in the liquid crystal instrument.
Negative display instrument is actually a form of liquid crystal instrument, LCD liquid crystal instrument is divided into positive/negative two types.
Positive LCD presents white background and black characters, which is what we often call liquid crystal meters, suitable for light intensity in general environment;
The negative LCD presents white characters on a black background, plus a backlight source, which can clearly display fonts under strong light irradiation and backlight, and is easy to read. Speaking of LCD instrument, I believe there will be a lot of car friends in the daily call it "LED LCD instrument". In fact, this colloquial name is wrong. What we call "liquid crystal meter" every day is the LCD meter, and the LED screen does not contain liquid crystal material.
Regarding the application of LED in motorcycle instruments, there are currently two forms, one is to use LED light-emitting diodes with LCD combination instruments, which will be mentioned next.

Combination instrument
Compared with the direct speed of the pointer instrument and the quasi-parameter of the digital instrument, the combination instrument that combines these two technologies has emerged.
The combination instrument generally uses a pointer to display the engine speed, which can gain more direct working condition information; in addition, it uses a digital LCD instrument or a higher instrument to display the speed, mileage, time, water temperature and other content with higher accuracy. Compared with a single pointer meter and a digital display meter, the combination meter can show its skills and include the advantages of each display form.
Let's take a familiar example: Apulia GPR 125 was equipped with a digital display liquid crystal meter at the beginning of its entry into the country. As the speed number of the extremely fast jump could not be recognized at all, it was replaced by a combination meter with pointer speed and digital display speed on the upgraded GPR 150.
In addition to the combination of pointers and digital displays, various combinations such as the diode combination LCD screen mentioned earlier (such as Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R and Z1000) are frequently installed in various models.
TFT color screen instrument
With the continuous advancement of the manufacturing industry, TFT full-color instruments have been frequently unveiled in more and more high-end models. Even today, a TFT instrument without bright spots can no longer become a marketing gimmick.
TFT(Thin Film Transistor) is an abbreviation of thin film transistor. Each liquid crystal pixel point on this type of display screen is driven by a thin film transistor integrated behind the pixel point.
